What is an AER Filter?
An "AER Filter" is a filter used in an "Automated Endoscopic Reprocessor". AERs are used in the medical industry to clean and disinfect flexible endoscopes and their accessories used in endoscopy procedures.
By adding the word "filter" after "AER" it should clarify your query making it related to an "Automated Endoscopic Reprocessor".So why don't search engines agree?
Back in 2020 we did an article here on the MedService Repair blog named "Searching for AER filters" that shared the frustrating results you experience on virtually all search engines when you type "AER filter" into a search engine. It's 4 years later now and it's improved a little, but not much. As of today, 07/30/2024 on one of the most popular search engines that will remain nameless and we will call "G", at the top of the results it still asks you "Did you mean: AIR filter".
So we typed "Where did the term AER come from?" into "G".
The "AI Overview" came back with 3 possible matches for "AER"?
- Prefix : The prefix aer- comes from the Greek word āḗr, which means "air" or "air entry". It's used in scientific terms, especially in biology, and can also mean "atmosphere", "gas", or "aviation". Some examples of words that use aer- include "aerate", "aerobiology", "aerospace", "aerosol", and "aerodrome".
- Interest rate : AER can also stand for Annual Equivalent Rate, which is another way of calculating interest, similar to Effective Annual Rate (EAR) or Annual Percentage Yield (APY). To calculate AER, you divide the interest rate by the number of times interest is compounded each year, add one, raise the result to the same number, subtract one, and display the result as a percentage.
- Medical device : AER can also stand for Automated Endoscope Reprocessor, a device used in healthcare to reprocess endoscopes and accessories.
So if there's 3 possible answers and you then add the word "filter" to "AER" how is it possible that anything other than a "Medical Device" is displayed at the top of the listings?
As of today, there's just two results on page 1 of "G" which have anything to do with the medical industry and they are at the bottom of the page. All of the other results are for "A I R" Filters".
To be fair, some of the "AIR" filters displayed on page 1 of the results are confusing as they are literally named "AER1 filters" or "AER Hepa Filter". IMO, a few of these make sense to show up on the page, but not dominate the entire page of listings as these have nothing to do with the "Prefix, Interest Rate or medical industry" that the "AI Overview" pointed out.
So we're sorry to report that searching for AER Filters for your automated endoscope reproccesor in 2024 has not really gotten any easier. It's still necessary to have the exact brand you're looking for or part number.
For instance typing: "Medivators AER Filters" into a search engine or better yet just go to our "AER Filters" page to see a full listing of all of our manufacturer compatible AER filters.
