A.I. Errors When Searching for AER Filters

Why can't I find AER Filters on Google when I type "AER Filter"?

Almost every result is for "AIR" Filters (with an "I" instead of "E").

Talk about frustrating for the person in charge of maintaining the AER (Automatic Endoscope Reprocessor) for their medical facility.

TIP | Go to "The Workaround" below to find out how to search for and find "AER Filters".

We've brought this topic up once previously, but we thought it would be a good idea to do a follow-up and fill you in on how Google is handling it in 2024. The bottom line is that these search engine errors are still happening and what might be called "A.I. assumptions" are creating issues in this case for the users and need some attention in this writer's opinion. Find out why below.

We've spent a great deal of time here at MedService Repair working on our Google search engine results. It's important to us that our customers can find the products they need quickly and efficiently online. And for almost all of the medical related products and services we offer we're typically in the Top 10 results.

But NOT for "AER Filters".

WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?

The issue is Google and other search engines are making decisions for you based on incorrect assumptions in this case. Google believes you intended to search for "AIR Filters" as it is a more common search term. In some situations, this might be helpful. But in this writer's opinion it would make the most sense for Google to show you the results for what you typed and simply alert you to your possible misspelling instead of making an incorrect assumption and not giving the option in their alert to search for what you actually typed. Their approach makes it practically impossible to find what you're actually looking for unless you know a secret to get around their mistakes.

Any key phrase Google believes is misspelled seems to substantially change the results you see. This is true even if Google's alert at the top of the search indicates specifically that the results are for the phrase you typed.

For example, if you type "AER Filter" at the top it says:

"Did you mean: air filters".

This seems to indicate that the results are for "AER Filters", but that's just not the case as many AIR Filter results are packed into the results displayed.

If you type "AER Fulters" at the top it says:

"Showing results for aer filters"
"Search instead for aer fulters"

So you'd think this is nothing but results for "AER Filters", right? But again, that just not true as many of the results are "Air Filters" related results. We know this by testing our workaround below.

THE WORKAROUND

The only way to get the actual results for "AER Filters" on Google seems to be by adding quotes around the search phrase itself in the Google search box. I.e. don't type AER Filters, instead type "AER Filters". Finally, the results will be mostly for AER Filters having to do with the medical industry. And yes, MedService Repair is found amongst the Top 10 results.

It just shouldn't be this difficult in this writer's opinion.
