CER1 Preventative Maintenance
Preventative maintenance is no longer just a good idea, it's a wise business decision that both increases the life expectancy of your AER (automatic endoscope reprocessor) while decreasing the the down time involved with machine malfunctions and more involved repairs. It just makes sense!
The CER1, along with many other AERs all need preventative maintenance done and the sooner you put together a maintenance plan and schedule the less likely that your practice will be found wanting. Don't let the small size of the ativ deceive you, it still needs PM.
There's a number of parts that are the typical suspects on AERs causing failures and downtime. These typical suspects cause over 90% of the issues with these AERs. With the right plan in place you can circumvent these parts taking your machine down.
The time it takes for a trained technician to do this preventative maintenance is minimal. Sometimes its as little as 6 hours depending upon what the issues are and what needs to be replaced. While there are many things that will be looked at some of the typical trouble makers that a trained technician will be looking at are:
- The ¾ valve seals that manage the rinse water drain and disinfectant return valve need to be replaced from time to time.
- There's several directional valves that control the flow to channels that need to be inspected to see if they need to be replaced as well.
- The disinfectant pump is another item that may need to be replaced.
- The tubing that used for disinfectant and alcohol delivery should also be replaced
- All six of the air diaphragms may also need to be replaced.
- The check valve should be replaced and all 4 of the check valve assemblies.
